Harp Therapy
What is Harp Therapy?
Harp therapy is personalized music played by a certified therapeutic harpist. The soothing tones of the harp provides a symbiotic environment conducive to healing.
The harp is specifically effective in therapeutic settings because it’s the most resonant of all instruments, as the plucked strings vibrate freely and openly, creating unique overtones and resonance.
As a Certified Therapeutic Harp Practitioner since 2002, I have been providing live therapeutic harp music as a service to patients who are ill and passing, in order to offer a more soothing environment. Employed at St. Bernardine Medical Center and Community Hospital San Bernardino as a therapeutic harpist for over 17 years, I have seen the amazing results of how live harp music serves as an adjunct to traditional healing
Why Live Harp Music?
The typical healthcare facility is a busy, loud, unfamiliar place where patients have little control. My goal is to make it easier for people to heal in a hospital. The music is chosen according to the client’s needs and is adapted accordingly. Live harp music supports not only the patient, but the family members and professionals involved in his or her care.
When therapeutic harp music is played, recipients may receive beneficial effects such as increased relaxation, improvement in sleep, decreased pain and anxiety, stabilization of vital signs, and improvement in mood. An end-of-life music vigil can also help a patient to achieve a peaceful transition. circumstances
